SUNDAY EVENING, 8 O’CLOCK.
In Paul’s MATCHLESS defense before Agrippa, the governor, he exclaimed: “Why should it be thought a thing impossible that God should raise the DEAD?”
His knowledge of God and the conscious almightiness of the Holy Spirit’s power was so real in him that doubt had disappeared and limiting of God had ceased.
The modern world has not yet acquired that unlimited spirit of faith in God. But here and there throughout the world we see a soul coming to maturity in faith. They have an advanced vision. They declare a possibility. They demonstrate a superiority of faith. They manifest a greater measure of Spiritual power.
John Knox prayed for a nation and received an answer. He prayed “Give me Scotland or I die.” He saw Scotland renewed in the life of God.
Martin Luther prayed for his friend, David Melanthon, when he was dying, and God healed him.
St. Patrick of Ireland, a man of apostolic power, prayed for the deliverance of Ireland from Druid worship and the banishment of snakes that then invested the island and destroyed many lives. Druidism gave place to Christianity. The snakes disappeared and have never returned and a testimony of the power of prayer, and faith in God was established in the character of the people of Ireland.
John Wesley, the found of Methodism, prayed not only for the healing and salvation of men and received the answer, but also for his lame horse, and the horse was instantly healed.
Rev. Lake and his associates prayed for Grover Ridson of 914 Rockwell avenue, Spokane, and God performed one of the most remarkable miracles of healing that is known to history. When Baby Grover was born, he was found to have a closed head; the opening in the top of the head that permits the skull to expand was closed. The brain grew, forcing the skull UPWARD THREE INCHES, like the ridge of a house roof. The forehead was forced upward in the same manner and the back of the head likewise.
The pressure on the brain caused paralysis of the right side and leg, also the foot. the CHILD WAS DUMB, and could not speak.
Medical science could give no relief or offer a cure.
Surgical science said: Wait unitll he is 10 ears old then we will cut the skull into eight sections and put a plate over his head to cover the brain.
Surgeons frankly said: “We fear such an operation may destroy his life, but it is his only chance.”
Then the parents in distress turned to the church and pastors, but they told them, “God does not hear prayer for healing now; that was to prove to the people in Jesus’ day that He was divine.”
The father said: “If he healed my stricken son it would prove to ME that He is DIVINE NOW.”
Then hope came. The mother (who was severely afflicted came to Rev Lake’s Healing Rooms and was Healed. FAITH GREW. Her daughter Alice was partially blind, and could only see by the use of the most powerful glasses. She was stricken with appendicitis. When suffering tortures, his hands were laid upon her in Jesus’ name, and she was healed .
Then Grover was brought to the Healing Rooms. As Rev. Lake ministered to him the second time the paralysis was destroyed. He could walk like other children. Then the head began to come down and expand normally in a short time he could speak like other six-year-old children.
God’s work is perfect. He is wholly well. And the boy, his parents, his family, the neighborhood, the city of Spokane, and the world is better because Jesus Christ was honored as savior and healer still.

I was taken to see a beautiful nine-year-old boy who was lying on a bed.
The mother and father were distracted because he had been lying there
for months. They had to lift and feed him; he was like a statue with
flashing eyes. As soon as I entered the place the Lord revealed to me the
cause of the trouble, so I said to the mother, “The Lord shows me there
is something wrong with his stomach.” She said, “Oh no, we have had
two physicians and they say it is paralysis of the mind.” I said, “God
reveals to me it is his stomach.” “Oh, no, it isn’t. These physicians
ought to know, they have x-rayed him.”
The gentleman who brought me there said to the mother, “You have sent for
this man, you have been the means of his coming, now don’t you stand out
against him. This an knows what he has got to do.” But Dr. Jesus knows more
than that. He knows everything. You have no need to ring the bell for doctors.
All you have to do is ring your bell for Jesus and He will come
down. You should never turn to human things, because divine things
are so much better and just at your call. Who shall interfere with the
divine mind of the Spirit which has all revelation, who understands the
whole condition of life?
For the Word of God declares He knoweth all things, is well acquainted
with the manifestation of thy body, for everything is naked and open before
Him with whom we have to do. Having the mind of the Spirit we understand
what is the will of God. I prayed over this boy and laid my hands on his stomach. He became sick and vomited a worm thirteen inches long and was perfectly restored.
Who knows? God knows. When shall we come into the knowledge of God!
When we cease from our own mind and allow ourselves to become
clothed with the mind and authority of the mighty God.
The Spirit of God would have us understand there is nothing that can
interfere with our coming into perfect blessing except unbelief. Unbelief
is a terrible hindrance. As soon as we are willing to allow the Holy
Ghost to have His way, we will find great things will happen all the time.
But oh, how much of our own human reason we have to get rid of, how
much human planning we have to become divorced from. What would
happen right now if everybody believed God? I love the thought that
God the Holy Ghost wants to emphasize the truth that if we will only
yield ourselves to the divine plan, He is right there to bring forth the
mystery of truth.

Will he delay long to help them? 8 I tell you, he will give them justice speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

John G Lake Diary Entry – Testimonies of Casting out demons 1910
Thursday Nov. 24, 1910
A remarkable case of casting out a Devil took place after the evening service. A Mr. Cornelious possessed of a devil for about 1-1/2 years said, that in a vision, God shewed him brother Gordon Hinds and said he was to come to our Tabernacle and that brother Hinds and brother Lake would lay hands on him and cast the devil out. We did. As we prayed, he fell backward on top of the platform, then slipped down into a sitting (position) on the floor with his back against the platform the devil caused him to cry out and fight with his fists but in a few minutes, but he was overpowered by the by the Holy Ghost and cast out. Throughout the struggle brother Lake held his head firmly between his hands and at the same time in the name of Jesus commanding the devil to come out which he did. When the Devil was cast out the Glory and praise of Jesus filled his Soul in a few minutes the Holy Ghost had such possession of him. He spoke in Tongues and Praised Jesus. J. G. L.
Monday, Nov. 28, 1910, at 4:00 p.m. I was called by Bro. Hunt to come to his home at once a Woman was in Violent fits of insanity . I hastened to the home as we prayed the dear Lord cast out the insane devils and when I left she was laying quiet and preparing to sleep it was a glorious deliverance the Spirit came upon me giving me a great and intense sense of dominion . Bro. and sister Hunt, and Bro. Rothchild had been praying with her for hours but had not sufficient dominion to cast the devil out. But being encouraged by my presence prayed with great power. The Lord united our hearts in a great unity of faith the woman’s name was Farmer .
Tues., Nov. 29, 1910 I visited Mrs Dockralls rooms at 56 Mosley bldg. Johannesburg overlooking the Market square. The Duke of Comnaught with the Duchess and Princess Patricha were visitors in the city the Duke was laying the cornerstone. 3000 school children dressed in white occupied the grandstand and sang. About 1:00 p.m. we started down stairs to the restaurant. Mrs. Dockrall was in front and was down about 5 or 6 steps, when she was seized with a violent spasm of Pain, her husband took her back to the rooms. I went down and ate dinner and returned to Dockrall’s rooms.
As I started upstairs I was joined by brother Gordon Hinds. We found Mrs. Dockrall suffering violently she was walking about apparently quite insane. We tried to get her to permit us to pray for her but she refused being persuaded she was not responsible for her actions, we took hold
of her, and prayed.
As we prayed, she became prostrated by the Spirit and we laid her on the bed. God answered the violent suffering ceased, but there remained a considerable pain throughout the afternoon. At about 6 p.m. as I prayed the Spirit came upon me intensely. I could feel the Spirit flow down my arm and through my hand into her body. I was praying and as I prayed laid my hands on the afflicted part, she became calm, her Pain ceased at once, and passed under the power of God. Jesus appeared to her and warned her to be brave and strong, that she was not yet entirely delivered that her suffering would return, she remained free from pain and slept till 1 a.m.
When her suffering returned with great violence, in the morning when I came out to breakfast a telegram from Mr. Dockrall my home was at 4 Millbourn Rd., Bertrams, J.H.burg, about 2-1/2 miles from Dockralls, said Helen had bad night come. signed Ben Dockrall. I hastened down, prayed again the intense suffering ceased at 10 a.m. A most violent attack came upon her she begged me to get her morphine, to bring a Dr. etc. I refused and fought the Devil with all my Power at the end of 1 hour I sent for her brother in law, to call the saints to prayer for her at about 12 p.m. Mrs.
Dockrall suddenly became conscious turned to me as I knelt at her bedside and said the Spirit of the Lord is upon you and instantly I realized it was. Again the healing virtue flowed through me again her Pain ceased. Again Jesus came in a vision to her with a Sword in His hand fighting enemies She asked the Lord, “why do you need a sword?”… “why do you have to fight?” The Lord said “for You!” when the Spirit of God left her the peace and glory of God remained upon her. I called again at night with brother Powell and found her recovering.
Dec. 1, 1910 In the afternoon I called on Mrs. Dockrall and found her almost entirely well and we Praised God.
Smith Wigglesworth overcomes death!
I was called at 10 o’clock one night to pray for a young person given up by the doctor who was dying of consumption. As I looked, I saw that unless God undertook it was impossible for her to live. I turned to the mother and said, “Well, mother. you will have to go to bed.” She said, “Oh, I have not had my clothes off for three weeks.” I said to the daughters, “You will have to go to bed,” but they did not want to go. It was the same with the son. I put on my overcoat and said, “Good-bye, I’m off.” They said, “Oh, don’t leave us.” I said, “I can do nothing here.” They said, “Oh, if you will stop, we will all go to bed.” I knew that God would move nothing in an atmosphere of mere natural sympathy and unbelief.
They all went to bed and I stayed, and that was surely a time as I knelt by that bed face to face with death and with the devil. But God can change the hardest situation and make you know that He is almighty.
Then the fight came. It seemed as though the heavens were brass. I prayed from 11 to 3:30 in the morning. I saw the glimmering light on the face of the sufferer and saw her pass away. The devil said, “Now you are done for. You have come from Bradford and the girl has died on your hands.” I said, “It can’t be. God did not send me here for nothing. This is a time to change strength.” I remembered that passage which said, “Men ought always to pray and not to faint.” Death had taken place but I knew that my God was all-powerful, and He that had split the Red Sea is just the same today. It was a time when I would not have “No,” and God said “Yes.” I looked at the window and at that moment the face of Jesus appeared. It seemed as though a million rays of light were coming from His face. As He looked at the one who had just passed away, the color came back to the face. She rolled over and fell asleep. Then I had a glorious time. In the morning she woke early, put on a dressing gown and walked to the piano. She started to play and to sing a wonderful song. The mother and the sister and the brother had all come down to listen. The Lord had undertaken. A miracle had been wrought.
The Lord is calling us along this way. I am thanking God for difficult cases. The Lord has called us into heart union with Himself; He wants His bride to have one heart and one Spirit with Him and to do what He Himself loved to do. That case had to be a miracle. The lungs were gone, they were just in shreds, but the Lord restored lungs that were perfectly sound.

We have a wonderful God, a God whose ways are past finding out, and whose grace and power are limitless. I was in Belfast one day and saw one of the brethren of the assembly. He said to me, “Wigglesworth, I am troubled. I have had a good deal of sorrow during the past five months. I had a woman in my assembly who could always pray the blessing of heaven down on our meetings. She is an old woman, but her presence is always an inspiration. But five months ago she fell and broke her thigh. The doctors put her into a plaster cast, and after five months they broke the cast. But the bones were not properly set and so she fell and broke the thigh again.”
He took me to her house, and there was a woman lying in a bed on the right hand side of the room. I said to her, “Well, what about it now?” She said, “They have sent me home incurable. The doctors say that I am so old that my bones won’t knit. There is no nutriment in my bones and they could never do anything for me, and they say I shall have to lie in bed for the rest of my life.” I said to her, “Can you believe God?” She replied, “Yes, ever since I heard that you had come to Belfast my faith has been quickened. If you will pray, I will believe. I know there is no power on earth that can make the bones of my thigh knit, but I know there is nothing impossible with God.” I said, “Do you believe He will meet you now?” She answered, “I do.”
It is grand to see people believe God. God knew all about this leg and that it was broken in two places. I said to the woman, “When I pray, something will happen.” Her husband was sitting there; he had been in his chair for four years and could not walk a step. He called out, “I don’t believe. I won’t believe. You will never get me to believe.” I said, “All right,” and laid my hands on his wife in the name of the Lord Jesus. The moment hands were laid upon her the power of God went right through her and she cried out, “I’m healed.” I said, “I’m not going to assist you to rise. God will do it all.” She rose and walked up and down the room, praising God.
The old man was amazed at what had happened to his wife, and he cried out, “Make me walk, make me walk.” I said to him, “You old sinner, repent.” He cried out, “Lord, You know I never meant what I said. You know I believe.” I don’t think he meant what he said; anyhow the Lord was full of compassion. If He marked our sins, where would any of us be? If we will meet the conditions, God will always meet us. If we believe, all things are possible. I laid my hands on him and the power went right through the old man’s body; and those legs, for the first time in four years, received power to carry his body, and he walked up and down and in and out. He said, “O what great things God has done for us tonight!”
“What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Desire toward God, and you will have desires from God; and He will meet you on the line of those desires when you reach out in simple faith.

Smith Wigglesworth Testimony on Resurrecting the Dead
One morning about eleven o’clock I saw a woman who was suffering with a tumor. She could not live through the day. A little blind girl led me to the bedside. Compassion broke me up and I wanted that woman to live for the child’s sake. I said to the woman, “Do you want to live?” She could not speak. She just moved her finger. I anointed her with oil and said, “In the name of Jesus.” There was a stillness of death that followed; and the pastor, looking at the woman, said to me, “She is gone.”
When God pours in His compassion it has resurrection power in it. I carried that woman across the room, put her against a wardrobe, and held her there. I said, “In the name of Jesus, death, come out.” And soon her body began to tremble like a leaf. “In Jesus’ name, walk,” I said. She did and went back to bed.
I told this story in the assembly. There was a doctor there and he said, “I’ll prove that.” He went to the woman and she told him it was perfectly true. She said, “I was in heaven, and I saw countless numbers all like Jesus. Then I heard a voice saying, ‘Walk, in the name of Jesus.’’’
There is power in the name of Jesus. Let us apprehend it, the power of His resurrection, the power of His compassion, the power of His love. Love will break the hardest thing – there is nothing it will not break.
Smith Wigglesworth Cancer Testimony
When you deal with a cancer case, recognize that it is a living evil spirit that is destroying the body. I had to pray for a woman in Los Angeles one time who was suffering with cancer, and as soon as it was cursed it stopped bleeding. It was dead. The next thing that happened was that the natural body pressed it out, because the natural body had no room for dead matter. It came out like a great big ball with tens of thousands of fibers. All these fibers had been pressing into the flesh. These evil powers move to get further hold of the system, but the moment they are destroyed their hold is gone. Jesus said to His disciples that He gave them power to loose and power to bind. It is our privilege in the power of the Holy Ghost to loose the prisoners of Satan and to let the oppressed go free.
Take your position in the first epistle of John and declare, “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.” Then recognize that it is not yourself that has to deal with the power of the devil, but the Greater One that is in you. Oh, what it means to be filled with Him. You can do nothing of yourself, but He that is in you will win the victory. Your being has become the temple of the Spirit. Your mouth, your mind, your whole being becomes exercised and worked upon by the Spirit of God.
