Smith Wiggleworth: Testimony of Healing Through an Atmosphere of Unbelief
I had a friend, an old Baptist minister who was a wonderful preacher. I spent much of my time with him. One day he came to me and said, “My wife is dying.” I said, “Brother Clark, why don’t you believe God? God can raise her up if you will only believe Him.” He asked me to come to his house, and I looked for some one to go with me.
I went to a certain rich man who was very zealous for God, and spent much money in opening up rescue missions, and I asked him to go with me. He said, “Never you mind me. You go yourself, but I don’t take to this kind of business.” Then I thought of a man who could pray by the hour. When he was on his knees he could go round the world three times and come out at the same place. I asked him to go with me and said to him, “You’ll have a real chance this time. Keep at it, and quit when you’re through.” (Some go on after they are through.)
Brother Nichols, for that was his name, went with me and started praying. He asked the Lord to comfort the husband in his great bereavement and prayed for the orphans and a lot more on this line. I cried, “O my God, stop this man.” But there was no stopping him and he went on praying and there was not a particle of faith in anything he uttered. He did stop at last, and I said, “Brother Clark, it’s now your turn to pray. He started, “Lord, answer the prayer of my brother and comfort me in this great bereavement and sorrow. Prepare me to face this great trial.” I cried out, “My God, stop this man.” The whole atmosphere was being charged with unbelief.
I had a glass bottle full of oil and I went up to the woman and poured the whole lot on her in the name of Jesus. Suddenly Jesus appeared, standing at the foot of the bed. He smiled and vanished. The woman stood up, perfectly healed, and she is a strong woman today.
We have a big God. We have a wonderful Jesus. We have a glorious Comforter. God’s canopy is over you and will cover you at all times, preserving you from evil. Under His wings shalt thou trust. The Word of God is living and powerful and in its treasures you will find eternal life. If you dare trust this wonderful Lord, this Lord of life, you will find in Him everything you need.
So many are tampering with drugs, quacks, pills and plasters. Clear them all out and believe God. It is sufficient to believe God. You will find that if you dare trust Him, He will never fail. “The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the LORD shall raise him up.” Do you trust Him? He is worthy to be trusted.

According to his doctors, Richard Waller was just a few short years away from permanent dependence upon a wheelchair and a pacemaker to assist his ever-weakening body and heart. He was living in constant chronic pain, suffering from two prolapsed disks, spina bifida, degenerative disc disorder, sciatica, arthritis, calcium deposits, and a heart condition called, arterial fibrillation.
David Hogan was born and raised in North Louisiana. His family for generations before him were men who preached the Gospel. After being around the Gospel for many years he rebelled against hypocrisy and God and lived a hard life with drinking, gangs and violence. He and his wife Debbie were married in 1971 in Louisiana. While he was working in the oil field his wife got saved and began praying with David’s parents for his salvation. While on an airplane to the oil field in Alaska he received a direct challenge from God to be that man who was no hypocrite but sought after and walked in the power of God. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and immediately returned on the next flight.
Upon returning everything was changed and he began to pastor a small church in North Louisiana where they had many souls saved each week. Later he received the power of the Holy Spirit by being prayed for.
In 1977 after taking a trip to the mission field in Mexico he came home to find his wife also having heard from God that this place is where they were supposed to give their lives for the Gospel.
They then moved to Mexico. At this time they had two children, Jo-d and Crystal.
During language school he received an open and extended vision from God about the exact area that he was told to “start here”. Using this vision as a guide and finding the area he began ministering to the Indians of Mexico. This has been a long and hard process, pioneering a work in a place that has never had a Gospel witness. Fighting the powers of the devil along with witchcraft, idolatry and spirit worship takes the power of the Holy Ghost.
David decided to go after God for His power to see the miraculous, to see “signs following” instead of only religious hypocrisy. He began to seek God to raise the dead. After four years of intense prayer and fasting he saw the first person receive life after having died, this miracle by the power of prayer to God. God has since allowed him to be present on 28 different occasions to date where people of all backgrounds have been raised from the dead. In the work now there have been over four hundred people who have received this life after dying. This is one miracle of God among many that has affected the work.
There have been healings of every nature, with body parts being healed or recreated through prayer.
Founding Freedom Ministries in 1981, this work has reached many countries in Latin America. The work continues to grow through preaching an uncompromising Gospel of Jesus Christ with many missionaries coming alongside to finish the same vision of winning Mexico and the world for Jesus. There are now over six hundred churches and many missions throughout Mexico.
David and Debbie live in Mexico and now have four grown children, Jo-d, Crystal, Joy and Luis. All four of their children with their families work alongside of their parents in the ministry.

During a minor surgery Crystal McVea died and took a nine minute journey into heaven and encountered the amazing love of God, forever changed, forever forgiven, forever filled with God’s amazing love.
After being diagnosed with gall bladder cancer, the tumor was removed by surgery. However, during the operation the surgeon found the cancer had spread to George’s liver bed. The prognosis was poor.

Then later a miracle happened, through the power of prayer, he was healed by God of liver cancer.
“Well, they found gallbladder cancer,” George said. “This is a very rare form of cancer.”
Doctors performed emergency surgery to remove the cancerous gall bladder; but there was more bad news.
“When they did the surgery, the cancer had gone down into the liver bed,” George said. “And that, as you well know, basically the prognosis is that you’re not going to live very long.”
Their family doctor, Dr. McQueen, who is also their friend, feared the worst.
“His prognosis was poor,” Dr. McQueen said. “With the stage of the cancer being advanced, once it had metastasized to another organ, he is classified as advanced stage carcinoma. For George, his treatment options were limited. Not only were those options limited, the ones that were available to him, in many cases, will take your life.”
Facing almost certain death, George got a second opinion.
“Same diagnosis, same prognosis,” George said. “The only difference was that this doctor was a little more positive and he said to me, ‘we’re going to operate.’”
“He also said, ‘okay, this is in the upper part of the liver; but if I open him up and I find any cancer anywhere else in the liver, I’m just going to close him back up because then there’ll be nothing we can do,’” Cheryl said. “I just thought, ‘I cannot lose my husband.’”
At the surgeon’s recommendation, George did not undergo chemotherapy or take any medication before surgery. Ultimately, he knew his fate was in God’s hands.
“I know that God heals,” George said. “But I’m also a realist and I know that the Bible says, ‘it’s appointed once to die, and then the judgment.’ So, I was ready to accept this – that if this is the time that God wanted to take me home, I was ready for that.”
As the surgery date approached, Cheryl prayed for God’s help.
“Our church got together and had a prayer meeting and one of the ladies in the church or maybe more than one, called The 700 Club and asked for prayer for George,” Cheryl said.
As surgeons performed the procedure, Cheryl got a phone call.
“I got off the phone and I just started crying. ‘The doctor said that his liver is perfectly normal; that there was no sign of cancer whatsoever.’ So we were just hugging each other and crying,” she said.
“The doctor said it looked like a normal, healthy liver. God had taken [the cancer], and I don’t know how He did it. I don’t know whether He just made the cancer go away. I don’t know if He gave me a new liver. It doesn’t matter to me. All I know is God is a God of miracles and he healed me,” George said.
“They believe in prayer and they trust in the sovereignty of God,” Dr. McQueen said. “There is no medical treatment or explanation for that type of result – absolutely miraculous!”
For the past two years, routine tests have shown the same result – no cancer!
“God really did heal,” Cheryl said. “I mean, when God does something, He does it right.”
“Some people today say, ‘well, miracles went out with the apostles.’ Well, I’m here to tell you that miracles did not go out with the apostles, that God is a God of miracles and He is a healer today,” George said. “He gave me a miracle – the miracle of life.”

Colton Burpo’s account of visiting heaven when he nearly died of a burst appendix at the age of 4 is the subject of the book “Heaven Is for Real,” and an illustrated edition for children, “Heaven Is for Real for Kids.” Now aged 12, the son of Nebraska pastor Todd Burpo recounted sitting in Jesus’ lap, meeting John the Baptist and his own departed great-grandfather, and having angels sing to him during his near-death experience.

Just two months shy of his fourth birthday, Colton Burpo, the son of an evangelical pastor in Imperial, Neb., was rushed into emergency surgery with a burst appendix.
He woke up with an astonishing story: He had died and gone to heaven, where he met his great-grandfather; the biblical figure Samson; John the Baptist; and Jesus, who had eyes that “were just sort of a sea-blue and they seemed to sparkle,” Colton, now 11 years old, recalled.
Colton’s father, Todd, has turned the boy’s experience into a 163-page book, “Heaven Is for Real,” which has become a sleeper paperback hit of the winter, dominating best-seller lists and selling hundreds of thousands of copies.
Thomas Nelson, the book’s publisher, said it had broken company sales records. The publisher, based in Nashville, began with an initial print run of 40,000 copies. Since the book came out in November, it has gone back to press 22 times, with more than 1.5 million copies in print. On the New York Times best-seller list for paperback nonfiction last Sunday, “Heaven Is for Real” was No. 1. The book remains in the top spot this coming Sunday.
Much of the book’s success has been fueled by word of mouth, since it did not begin with the usual best-seller channels: there has been no elaborate book tour, big-name publisher or brand-name author. But it has gained traction with a few well-placed appearances on the morning show “Fox & Friends,” “The 700 Club” and CNN.
The book has sold just as strongly in national chain bookstores like Barnes & Noble as it has in Christian specialty shops, said Matt Baugher, the vice president and publisher of Thomas Nelson. Mass merchants like Wal-Mart have pushed the book heavily in their stores, and large orders from churches and ministry groups are growing steadily.
“We all are perhaps desperate to know what is on the other side of the veil after we die,” Mr. Baugher said, adding that his initial skepticism about the Burpo family’s story was short-lived. “This was a very down-to-earth, conservative, quote-unquote normal Midwestern family. We became fully convinced that this story was valid. And also that it was a great story that would just take off.”
The book was an instant hit in Barnes & Noble outlets and was near the top of the best-seller list on its bn.com. The chain’s religion buyer was an early advocate for the book, ordering copies for every store, said Patricia Bostelman, the vice president for marketing at Barnes & Noble.
“When you buy the religion subject, you are presented with many stories about heaven, personal experiences about near-death and the afterlife,” Ms. Bostelman said, noting that several other books with “heaven” in the title have sold well recently. “But what was unusual about this book was that it was the story of a little boy. It deactivated some of the cynicism that can go along with adults capitalizing on their experiences.”
Todd Burpo wrote the book with Lynn Vincent, who collaborated with Sarah Palin on “Going Rogue.” Mr. Burpo, the pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, a farming community in southwest Nebraska, said in an interview that he had shouldered some criticism over it.
“People say we just did this to make money, and it’s not the truth,” Mr. Burpo said, referring to anonymous online comments about the book. “We were expecting nothing. We were just hoping the publisher would break even.” (He said he planned to give away much of the royalty income and spend some of it on home improvements.)
At first, he and his wife, Sonja, were not sure if they could believe their son’s story, which came out slowly, months and years after his sudden illness and operation in 2003. The details persuaded them, Mr. Burpo said. Colton told his parents that he had met his younger sister in heaven, describing her as a dark-haired girl who resembled his older sister, Cassie. When the Burpos questioned him, he asked his mother, “You had a baby die in your tummy, didn’t you?” While his wife had suffered a miscarriage years before, Mr. Burpo said, they had not told Colton about it. “There’s just no way he could have known,” Mr. Burpo said.
And the Burpos said that Colton painstakingly described images that he said he saw in heaven — like the bloody wounds on Jesus’ palms — that he had not been shown before.
Eventually the Burpos decided to tell their story beyond their town. Mr. Burpo, in his Sunday sermons, had already introduced some anecdotes to his congregation. Through a pastor friend, they met Joel Kneedler, an agent with Alive Communications, a Christian literary agency in Colorado Springs. Mr. Kneedler sold the book to Thomas Nelson, a publisher known for Christian titles like “40 Days With Jesus” by Sarah Young. The advance was in the low five figures.
The book’s list price is $16.99, but that is discounted to $9.34 on amazon.com.
At the outlets of Barbara’s Bookstore, an independent chain mostly in the Chicago area, the book is No. 1 on the store’s nonfiction best-seller list. Interest in it began to perk up around mid-February, said Greg Sato, a store manager.
“Of the nonfiction books lately that seems to be the one that people are asking about the most,” Mr. Sato said. “I have pegged it in the same vein as ‘The Five People You Meet in Heaven’ or ‘The Shack.’ Like an Oprah book, but a little more religious or spiritual.”
Colton, who appears as a blond, round-faced little boy on the cover of the book, now plays the piano and trumpet, is fascinated by Greek mythology, listens to Christian rock and loves Nebraska football.
Telling his story matter-of-factly, Colton said he was pleased that people were finding the story inspirational.
“People are getting blessed, and they’re going to have healing from their hurts,” he said. “I’m happy for that.”

God Miraculously Heals Man of Stage 4 Bone Cancer

Doctors gave Glenn Hicks a “death date.” He was diagnosed with stage 3 bone cancer on Dec. 14. Six weeks later, the cancer had spread and advanced to stage 4.
According to the Enneking staging system for bone cancers, stage 3 means the cancer has spread to another part of the body. And according to the TNM staging system of bone cancer, stage 4 bone cancer means the disease has spread to the lungs.
Hicks knew he was dying. He was experiencing severe pain in his joints and bones. But as a resident of Faith Farm, a homeless ministry in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., he was not allowed to take narcotics to treat his pain.
“I had to deal with it and give everything to God,” Hicks says. “[Doctors] gave me a ‘date of death’ sheet on a clipboard, upside down, and told me if I wanted to look at it, it was right there to look at. But I never looked at it. I decided to trust in God.”
A leader from Faith Farm called Rodney Thompson and told him about Hicks’ condition. Thompson, founder of Christ Kingdom Evangelist Network (CKEN), said he would bring over his team of evangelists to pray for his complete healing.
“Glenn told us the doctors gave him a date of death. We prayed for Glenn and spoke to the cancer,” says Thompson, who also serves on the leadership team at International House of Prayer, Fort Lauderdale. “We said, ‘Cancer, we give you your date of death—April 3.’”
During the April 3 prayer, Hicks said he felt “a warmth and relaxing and a peace and calm about [himself].” Convinced he was healed, Hicks went to see his doctor on April 4 for a new round of tests. The results came in on April 8.
“The doctors told me I was in remission,” Hicks says. “But I’ve been healed by God.”
Charisma News obtained a report from the doctor, validating the healing (what the doctor calls remission). That report from Dr. F. Collins reads: “Our findings from the TriScreen report on 4-5-2013 was as follows: Your cancer cell count was 263 cpms and on 4-5-20-2013 your cancer cell count was 0 cpms. I cannot explain this except that you are in 100 percent total remission.”
Several days later, Dr. Collins sent Hicks a second letter, which reads: “The bone-biopsy is unexplainable … This is not just baffling to me and my staff, but also to the AMA which I have informed of these findings. According to these results, you are a normal healthy 51-year-old male.”
Hicks’ healing came on the eve of an evangelistic outreach known as Cry at Midnight, in partnership with Free Indeed Ministries and CKEN. Organizers had been praying and fasting to see souls saved, the sick healed and the oppressed delivered from demons.
“We were expecting great miracles at Cry at Midnight,” says Jim Locke, founder of Free Indeed Ministries and worship pastor at Praise Chapel Hollywood in Florida. “We saw one before our event ever got underway. God is still in the business of healing people. Hicks is proof.”
Near death man with tuberculosis completely healed by Jesus in Wales!
There was an Episcopal minister by the name of Lazarus in the country of Wales. He was bedridden for several years, near death suffering from tuberculosis. Wigglesworth was asked to visit him to pray for healing.
Upon arriving he describes the scene as; “he was nothing but a massive bones with skin stretched over them. There was no life to be seen. Everything in him spoke of decay.”
Wigglesworth said that the man did not believe God wanted to heal him and that there was not an atom of faith there in that man and that the man had made his mind up not to have anything, so he left the man.
But God had promised Wigglsworth he would heal the man, so the next morning he gathered 7 other believers in the town to go back and pray. This is what Wigglsworth wrote:
“I will never forget how the power of God fell on us as we went into that sick man’s room. Oh, it was lovely! As we made a circle around the bed, I got one brother to hold the sick mans hand on one side, and I held the other, and we each held the hand of the person next to us.
I then said;
“We are not going to pray; we are just going to use the name of Jesus.” We all kneltdown and whispered that one word, “Jesus!, Jesus!, Jesus!”
The power of God fell, then it lifted. Five times the power of God fell, and then it remained. But the man in the bed was unmoved.
Two years previously, someone had come along and had tried to raise him up, and the devil had used his lack of success as a means of discouraging Lazarus. I said “I don’t care what the devil says, if God says He will raise you up it must be so. Forget everything else except what God says about Jesus.”
A sixth time the power fell, and the sick man’s lips began moving, and the tears began to fall. I said to him, “the power of God is here; it is yours to accept it.” He said, “I have been bitter in my heart, and I know I have grieved the Spirit of God. Here I am, helpless. I cannot lift my hands or even lift a spoon to my mouth.” I said, “repent, and God will hear you.” He repented and cried out, “Oh God, let this be to your Glory.”As he said this, the power of the Lord went right through him.
I have asked the Lord to let me never tell the story except the way it happened, for I realize that God can never bless exaggerations.
As we again said “Jesus!, Jesus!, Jesus!” the bed shook and the man shook. I said to the people who were with me, “you can all go downstairs now. This is all God. I’m not going to assist him.” I sat and watched the man get up and dress himself and we sang the doxology as he walked down the steps.
I said to him “now tell what has happened.” It was soon told everywhere that Lazarus had been raised up.
The people came from Llanelli and all the district around to see him and to hear his testimony. God brought salvation to many. Right out in the open air this man told what God had done, and as a result, many were convicted and converted. All this occurred through the name of Jesus, “through faith in his name” (Acts 3:16). Yes, the faith that is by Him gave this sick man perfect soundness in the presence of them all. Amen & Glory to His name!

About five years ago I was pregnant when I started experiencing symptoms of a miscarriage (cramping, bleeding, etc.) at about 12 weeks. I went to the ER (Albany Medical Center). After being examined and having an ultrasound the doctor told me that I was in the process of miscarriage and there was nothing they could do. His heart rate was below 90 and decreasing (125 is a normal fetal heart-rate) I asked if there was something I could do, if going on bed rest could help.
They said it would not make a difference, that I was already in the process of miscarriage. (They actually used the term ‘spontaneous abortion’ which I resented). They told me to go home and if the baby had not ‘passed’ within a week to come back for a D&C. I was absolutely crushed, especially because me and my husband had lost our first child at around the same time a few months earlier. I began to cry as the doctor left the room and I waited to be discharged. I could not believe it, my worst fear was really true, I would lose this baby also.
Without any words ( I couldn’t find any) I drew near to God in my heart. Immediately I stopped crying and at that moment a janitor was walking by mopping and I asked him to ask the doctor to come back in. When he came back in I told him that my baby (NOT, “fetus”) was going to live. He clearly did not know how to proceed and just apologized, reiterating the fact that based on my symptoms and their findings that that was the prognosis. I respectfully told him that I was sorry but I did not agree.
Upon leaving the hospital I called my closest family and friends (many of which are powerful intercessors with great faith) and asked them to pray for my unborn child. Many of them made prayer chains, some even reaching to Florida and California. When I got home I laid down on the couch and tried to find the strength to pray. I felt the Holy Spirit minister to me that I did not have to pray, just to rest, that I was covered.
What happened next is kind of hard to explain in words, but the best way to describe it is that I could actually feel the prayers of the people, almost like a very soft vibration. A wave of peace washed over my body. It was an unbelievable feeling that I cannot describe but I could physically feel it. In that moment I knew that my baby would live.
I determined to stay on bed-rest. Within 24 hours the cramping and bleeding slowed to a stop. My best friend would call me on the phone, declaring that my baby would live and not die, she commanded his heart rate to regulate, she spoke strength unto my body and his. When the week was up I returned to the doctor as they instructed. They gave me an ultrasound (as protocol before preforming a D&C). What they found was a perfectly normal pregnancy, with a baby who had a heart-rate of 125.
They could not believe it, but I could 🙂
At around my due date I was scheduled for my weekly check-up and my regular doctor was delivering another baby so I had to see someone else. When the doctor came in he began the normal questions about my pregnancy. I briefly told him about the visit to the hospital at 12 weeks and I told him what I told the doctor. His face was amazed and he began to laugh. I was probably looking at him a little weird so he proceeded to tell me he was there that day and remembers the doctor talking about my response. He looked at my huge belly with tears in eyes and said “this is the baby?”
Justice Jeremiah was born almost two weeks late at 8lbs 4oz after a perfectly normal delivery. He is a healthy, beautiful almost five year old who is an amazing big brother to Jackson Joseph who is one. I am sure they will be men after God’s own heart. One day ( when I feel the time is right) I will tell him this amazing story of the healing power of God and His abundant love for us!

Many people say that God’s healing power is not real because many Miracles lack medical proof. As we have seen, often healing miracles go undocumented simply because many times, the person healed no longer needs medical treatment or confirmation from a Doctor to realize they can walk again, or that all their pain is now gone from a past injury. At that point, they/we are often so happy that they/we are healed, they/we don’t feel the need to spend a couple hundred dollars for a doctor just to tell them what they already know (they/we have been healed).
Let’s be honest, would you really need a doctor to tell you what you already know and see? In the case of a terminal disease, yes of course we would want confirmation, and there are many, many miracles of such cases documented around the globe, yet I’m amazed that I still hear people saying there is “no proof” of healing today. It’s almost as if some people won’t believe no matter what proof is provided. There is a close relationship between sin and sickness. How many know that their sicknesses are a direct result sin? I hope that no one will come to be prayed for who was living in sin. But if you will obey God and repent of your sin in stop it, God will meet you, and neither your sickness nor your sin will remain. “The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven” James 5:15
Faith is just the open door through which the Lord comes. Do not say, “I was saved by faith” or “I was Healed by faith.” Faith does not save and heal. God saves in heals through that open door. You believe, and the power of Christ comes. Salvation and healing are for the glory of God. I am here because God healed me when I was dying, and I’ve been around the world preaching this full redemption, doing all I can to bring glory to the wonderful name of the one who healed me.
“Sin no more, lest a worst thing comes upon you” John 5:14. The Lord told us in one place about an evil spirit going out of a man. The house that the evil spirit left got all swept and put in order, but it received no new occupant. That evil spirit, with seven other spirits more wicked than itself, went back to the unoccupied house, and “the last state of that man was worse than the first.” Matthew 12:45.
The Lord does not heal you to go to a baseball game or to a racetrack. He heals you for His glory so that from that moment your life will glorify Him. But this man remained stationary. He did not magnify the God. He did not seek to be filled with the Spirit. And his last day became “worse than the first.”
The Lord wants to so cleanse the motives and desires of your hearts, that we will seek one thing only, and that is His glory. I went to a certain place one day and the Lord said, “this is for My glory.”
A young man had been sick for a long time. He had been confined to his bed in an utterly hopeless condition. He was fed with a spoon and was never dressed. The weather was damp, so I said to the people in the house, “I wish you would put the young man’s clothes by the fire to air.” At first, they would not take any notice of my request, but because I was persistent they took out his clothes. When They had been aired, I took them into his room.
Upon entering the room the Lord said to me, “you will have nothing to do with this,” and I just lay prostrate on the floor. The Lord showed me that he was going to shake the place with his glory. The very bed shook. I laid my hands on the young man in the name of Jesus, and the power fell in such a way that I fell with my face to the floor.
In about a quarter of an hour the young man got up and walked back-and-forth praising God. He dressed himself and then went out to the room where his father and mother were. He said “God has healed me.” Both the father and mother fell prostrate to the floor as the power of God surged through that room. There was a woman in that house who had been in an Asylum for lunacy, and her condition was so bad that they were about to take her back. But the power of God healed her, too.
The power of God is just the same today as it was in the past. Men need to be taken back to the old paths, to the old-time faith, to believing God’s word and every “Thus says the Lord” in it. The Spirit of the Lord is moving in these days. God is coming forth. If you want to be in the rising tide, you must accept all God has said.
“Do you want to be made well?” (John 5:6). It is Jesus who asks this question. Give him your answer. He will hear, He will answer.

Demon Possessed Man Healed: Testimony from Smith Wigglesworth
I was one time asked to go to Weston-super-mare, a seaside resort in the West of England. I learned from a telegram that a man had lost his reason and had become a raving maniac, and they wanted me to go to pray for him. I arrived at the place, and the wife said to me, “Will you sleep with my husband?” I agreed, and in the middle of the night an evil power laid hold of him. It was awful. I put my hand on his head and his hair was like a lot of sticks. God gave deliverance-a temporary deliverance. At 6 o’clock the next morning, I felt that it was necessary that I should get out of the house for a short time.
The man saw me going and cried out, “If you leave me, there is no hope.” But I felt that I had to go. As I went out I saw a woman with a Salvation Army bonnet on and I knew that she was going to their 7 o’clock prayer meeting. I said to the Captain who was in charge of the meeting, when I saw he was about to give out a hymn, “Captain, don’t sing. Let’s get to prayer.” He agreed, and I prayed my heart out, and then I grabbed my hat and rushed out of the hall. They all thought they had a madman in their prayer meeting that morning.
I saw the man I had spent the night with, rushing down toward the sea, without a particle of clothing on, about to drown himself. I cried, “In the name of Jesus, come out of him!” The man fell full length on the ground and that evil power went out of him never to return. His wife came rushing after him, and the husband was restored to her in a perfect mental condition.
There are evil powers, but Jesus is greater than all evil powers. There are tremendous diseases, but Jesus is healer. There is no case too hard for Him. The Lion of Judah shall break every chain. He came to relieve the oppressed and to set the captive free. He came to bring redemption, to make us as perfect as man was before the fall.
People want to know how to be kept by the power of God. Every position of grace into which you are led-forgiveness, healing, deliverance of any kind, will be contested by Satan. He will contend for your body. When you are saved, Satan will come round and say, “See, you are not saved.” The devil is a liar. If he says you are not saved, it is a sure sign that you are.
